Anclas de la mente

La gente se acostumbra a informarse siempre a través de los mismos medios de información. Esto la condiciona. Y cuanto más condicionada está, más se refuerza el proceso. Sufrimos de percepción selectiva. Además, la gente se acostumbra a priorizar siempre igual la información que recibe. Y, además, la gente tiende a ser permeable a la información que le confirma lo que sabe y lo que piensa y a rechazar lo que no sabe o lo que duda. Esto encajona la capacidad de innovación.
- ¿Cómo puede usted romper este círculo?
- ¿Cómo puede hacer para “mirar desde afuera” de su propia forma de pensar?
- ¿Qué otras fuentes de información deberían ser tenidas en cuenta, aunque le resulten totalmente repugnantes a sus propias opiniones?
- ¿Cuánto se debe invertir en más información?
- ¿Qué información le sobra?
- Mayor preocupación por el todo que por las partes.
La mayoría de las empresas (cuanto más grandes, peor) están organizadas verticalmente según el ordenamiento funcional. Esto es muy eficiente, por ejemplo, para aprovechar la especialización en los trabajos repetitivos. Pero no sirve para la innovación. Ni para la innovación. Ni para detectar nuevas oportunidades. Porque no sirve para aprender lo nuevo.
- ¿Cómo soluciona usted este problema?
- ¿Cómo se mejora la comunicación entre los diferentes grupos y sectores?
- ¿Cómo se evitan las quintas, las visiones-túnel y los compartimentos estancos?
- ¿Cómo se soluciona que cada sector tenga la cultura interna (ideología) adecuada, pero que haya una cultura total unidireccionalizada?
- ¿Cómo se tiene en cuenta que si hoy se opera en una parte de la empresa, esa intervención puede ser perjudicial, hoy o mañana, en esa misma parte o en otra?
- Una mentalidad sintética en lugar de exclusivamente analítica.
Las organizaciones deberán soportar el tremendo dilema de que las cosas son cada vez más complejas, pero también que los cambios son cada vez más rápidos. Esto requiere trabajar mediante otra manera de pensar. Innovar requiere otra manera de pensar.
- ¿Qué opina?
- ¿Qué opina su gente?
- ¿Quién opina qué?
- ¿Qué sector piensa que esto no lo afecta?
- ¿Qué cargos deben ser cubiertos con mentalidades analíticas y cuáles con mentalidades sintéticas?
- ¿Cuándo es el momento de dejar de pensar para poner manos a la obra?
- ¿Cuándo es el momento de parar lo que se está haciendo para poder reflexionar sobre lo que se hizo y sobre lo que se debe hacer?

Comparto la idea del artículo. Dado que estamos saturados de información, la mente debe elegir que información asimilar y cual descartar. La que no es tenida en cuenta, es completamente omitida por el individuo, ya que para este no existe. Así, la atención resulta selectiva y percibimos solo aquello que cuadra dentro de nuestro mapa mental. Esto se agrava con la parcialidad de los medios de información. Estos transmiten información que no podemos percibir directamente, por no estar en el lugar, pero que llega teñida de ideología y, por lo tanto, puede ser parcial y/o distorsionada. De esta forma, no solo estamos expuestos a las limitaciones propias para procesar la información, sino que a las limitaciones ajenas y a las ideologías e intereses de otros individuos. Consecuentemente, nuestro mapa mental es claramente incompleto.
La única forma de romper con esta limitación es mediante la interacción con otros individuos ya que estos revelarán información que en su mapa mental es importante pero obviada en el propio. O puede que aun siendo igualmente importante para todos, transmitan un enfoque completamente distinto sobre una situación. Esto permite ampliar la percepción y hacerse de nueva información.
La comunicación entre toda la línea jerárquica de la empresa (mandos altos, medios y personal operativo) permite ampliar la visión de la compañía mediante la interacción de distintos mapas mentales. Cada grupo tiene una formación diferente, un trabajo distinto y otros intereses. Compartir estos diversos puntos de vista enriquece a la empresa y genera una base solida para la innovación.
